Wagemut by N. Kroeger PX-CASK STRENGTH Edition 01 is a limited-edition rum-based spirit that presents the well-known Wagemut PX-Cask in a particularly robust cask-strength version. It is based on a 10-year-old rum from Barbados, which is then finished in barrels in Germany. For this aging process, Wagemut uses exceptional 35-year-old Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The intense influence of these old PX casks blends with the already long-aged Barbados base. The edition is bottled at an unadulterated 58.7% cask strength, which allows the wood, fruit, and sherry cask notes to come through with exceptional intensity. The manufacturer explicitly markets the finished product under the trade designation “spirits,” which is why the bottling is correctly labeled as a rum-based spirit and not as rum.

The PX-Cask Strength Edition was created after Wagemut served the regular PX-Cask directly from the cask at the 2025 Summer Festival, and the positive response led to the development of an official bottling. Wagemut plans to release this variant only once a year as a limited edition. Another unique feature is the design: a different spirit animal is to be depicted on the bottle each year. Edition 01 thus combines 10-year-aged Barbados rum, a finish in Germany, 35-year-old PX sherry casks, and 58.7% cask strength into an exceptionally intense interpretation of the well-known Wagemut PX-Cask. As such, the 0.7-liter bottle is aimed particularly at connoisseurs of bold, sherry-cask-influenced spirits and collectors of limited-edition Wagemut releases.
