The Macallan 15 Years Old Color Collection is a 15-year-old Highland single malt Scotch whiskey and part of the exclusive Macallan Color Collection, which focuses in particular on the natural color development and the influence of sherry-seasoned oak casks. The whisky matures primarily in American oak casks that were previously filled with sherry in Jerez de la Frontera, supplemented by a smaller proportion of European oak casks. Over at least 15 years, not only does the cask character develop, but the intense color also emerges exclusively through the interaction between the distillate and the oak. Accordingly, the Macallan Color Collection 15 Years Old is bottled without any added coloring. It is bottled at 43% ABV, and the 0.7-liter bottle is presented in a matching gift box.

The Color Collection was originally conceived as a travel-retail-exclusive series and includes whiskies of varying ages, whose natural hues change as they mature. For the 15 Years Old, The Macallan describes the color as “Rich Beech,” a deep beech wood hue. The packaging design also reflects the connection to Jerez de la Frontera and was created in collaboration with graphic designer David Carson. The focus is on the landscape, vineyards, and characteristic hues of Andalusia, where The Macallan’s oak casks are pre-seasoned with sherry before being shipped to Scotland. In this way, the Macallan 15 Years Color Collection combines long maturation, American and European oak, sherry seasoning, and natural coloring into a unique interpretation of the classic Macallan style.
