The Hearach Isle of Harris Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the first single malt from the Isle of Harris Distillery and, at the same time, a significant whisky from the Scottish island of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. The distillery was founded in Tarbert with the goal of creating a whisky that is closely connected to its island home. The Hearach is made with 100% Scottish barley, while the water comes from the local Abhainn Cnoc a’ Charrain spring. The single malt is produced with a subtle peatiness of about 12 to 15 ppm, meaning that smoke is intentionally used as a complementary element rather than a dominant characteristic. Maturation takes place in a combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels as well as Oloroso and Fino sherry casks.

The individual cask components for The Hearach Single Malt are carefully blended together and then left to marry for several more weeks before bottling, allowing a harmonious overall profile to develop. Maturation takes place on Harris, underscoring the distillery’s commitment to fully connecting its whisky with the island. The Hearach is bottled at 46% alcohol by volume, with no chill filtration or artificial colorings used. The bottle also has strong ties to Harris: its design draws inspiration from, among other things, the island’s landscape and artisanal traditions. In this way, the Isle of Harris The Hearach Single Malt Scotch Whisky combines local production, light peating, and a complex bourbon and sherry cask maturation into a distinctive Hebridean bottling.
