This unique agave variety grows significantly slower than traditional Espadin agaves, resulting in a complex and distinctive flavor profile. This mezcal is produced in Candelaria Yegole in the state of Oaxaca by Romulo Sanchez Parada, a mezcalero who learned his craft from his father and began working at the family-owned Palenque at a young age. After a period of financial hardship, he emigrated to the United States before returning to Oaxaca in 2003, reuniting his family, and resuming traditional mezcal production. Today, Rey Campero is among the most respected producers of premium artisanal mezcals.

Rey Campero Cuishe is produced using traditional methods and bottled as a Joven Mezcal to preserve the agave’s original characteristics in their purest form.
