The Plantation Rum Guatemala XO Moscatel Maturation Edition 2021 is a masterful composition that impressively reflects the art of the double ageing technique. Plantation rums are no longer an insider tip and stand for exceptional quality and innovative barrel refinements. These rums are carefully produced in the Caribbean and South America and then brought to France, where they are given their final finish in the cellars of Chateau de Bonbonnet.
The production of this unique rum begins in Guatemala, where it is made from molasses and undergoes a three-day fermentation process. Distilled in the Destiladora de Alcoholes y Rones, it first matures for several years in ex-bourbon barrels under tropical conditions. It is then matured for a further 12 months in ex-cognac barrels made from French oak in France to give it even more depth and elegance. Its final 11-month finish in Moscatel wine barrels provides a special fruity sweetness and a harmoniously rounded taste profile.
