Ondjaba The Namibian Whiskey Signature Edition No. 2 is an exceptional whiskey from Namibia, produced at the Erongo Mountain Winery, which consistently blends regional influences with unconventional whiskey production methods. It is based on a triple-grain blend that includes, among other ingredients, mahangu millet, a traditional Namibian grain. A particularly distinctive feature of Ondjaba is the use of elephant dung for smoking instead of traditional peat, which gives the grain a subtle, earthy-smoky character. For the Signature Edition No. 2, this is followed by a complex maturation process under Namibia’s warm climate in a combination of virgin oak, red wine barrels, and brandy barrels.

With a robust 51% ABV in the 0.7-liter bottle, the Ondjaba Signature Edition #2 presents itself as a particularly intense interpretation of the Namibian whiskey style. The different types of casks impart oak spice, structure, and additional fruit notes to the distillate, while mahangu and the unique smoking process underscore its regional identity. The whiskey is not chill-filtered, ensuring that its original character is preserved as fully as possible. The Erongo Mountain Winery was also named Africa Whiskey Distillery of the Year 2024. With its triple-grain recipe, Namibian Mahangu millet, exceptional smoking method, and complex barrel aging, this Signature Edition No. 2 is aimed particularly at whiskey connoisseurs seeking distinctive bottlings beyond the classic regions of origin.
