The Octomore Edition 14.2 Super Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 57.7% vol. 0.7 l is an outstanding example of modern Islay distillation and comes from the innovative Bruichladdich Distillery. Under the direction of Head Distiller Adam Hannett, a whisky has been created that impressively explores the boundaries of peat intensity and cask complexity. Made from 100% Scottish Concerto barley from the 2016 harvest and distilled in 2017, this single malt achieves a phenol content of 128.9 ppm, which puts it in the category of "Super Heavily Peated" whiskies.

In contrast to the Octomore 14.1, which was matured exclusively in bourbon casks, the 14.2 was given its exceptional depth through a combination of first-fill Oloroso sherry casks (40%), first-fill Amarone casks (16%) and second-fill Amarone casks (44%). This was followed by additional maturation in French oak, giving the whisky a distinctive structure and multi-layered complexity. The marriage of the strong peat notes with the natural sweetness and nuttiness of the European wine casks results in a multi-faceted single malt with an unmistakable character.

At 57.7% vol., Octomore 14.2 was bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration and without colorant. The combination of strong smoke, maritime influence and the elegant texture of European oak makes it a unique expression of the Islay style. The craftsmanship typical of Bruichladdich and the deliberate selection of exceptional casks give this whisky its extraordinary intensity, balance and depth.
