The Netzl Carnuntum Weissburgunder Ried Altenberg 2022 is an elegant and terroir-influenced Austrian white wine that impressively reflects the unique character of the Altenberg vineyard in Goettelsbrunn (Carnuntum). The site is characterized by Danube gravel with loess in the subsoil and is situated on a cooler, east-facing gravel hill with the distinctive influence of the nearby forest. The warm Pannonian climate with hot summer days, long late summers, and mild autumns ensures fully ripe grapes, while the Altenberg vineyard preserves freshness, lively acidity, and pronounced aromatics.

The grapes were selectively hand-harvested on September 28, 2023, with precise whole-bunch and single-bunch selection. The wine then matured without intervention in used 500-liter oak barrels and in amphorae, where it matured on its lees for six months without racking and stabilized only with the first sulfurization. This elaborate vinification process gives the wine a fine structure, a creamy texture, and a special depth. With an alcohol content of 13.5% vol., it is a long-lasting wine with aging potential until at least 2033.
