Mackmyra Svensk Roek Swedish Single Malt Whisky is a smoky Swedish single malt whisky whose name translates to “Swedish Smoke.” Founded in 1999, the Mackmyra Distillery was born from an idea conceived by eight friends who, during a skiing trip together in 1998, discussed the possibility of producing their own Swedish whiskey. For Svensk Roek, Mackmyra relies on Swedish ingredients and offers its own unique take on smoky whiskey. Juniper smoke plays a special role here, lending the malt a typically Nordic character and offering an alternative to the classic peat smoke found in Scottish whiskeys. Distillation takes place in traditional pot stills before the whiskey undergoes barrel aging.

Mackmyra Svensk Roek matures in a combination of various selected casks, including American oak casks and former sherry casks, which add extra depth to the smoky base character. This Swedish single malt whiskey is bottled at a robust 46.1% ABV in a 0.7-liter bottle, with no added coloring and is non-chill-filtered. The bottle design also references Mackmyra’s origins: The lower part of the bottle features eight distinctive indentations, symbolizing the eight founders. The combination of juniper smoke, Swedish ingredients, pot-still distillation, and various cask types makes Svensk Roek a distinctive alternative for lovers of smoky single malts.
