The Kerschbaum Blaufraenkisch Ried Duerrau 2023 comes from the renowned single vineyard Duerrau, the highest quality vineyard in Horitschon and a parade vineyard in Central Burgenland. This origin gives the wine its special depth and structure, as the grapes come exclusively from this single vineyard and thus enable a precise expression of the terroir. Vinification involves 21 days of temperature-controlled mash fermentation, which gives the wine intense substance and clear structural elements. The malolactic fermentation was carried out exclusively in wooden barrels, followed by 15 months of ageing in different types of wood, resulting in a harmonious combination of elegance and depth. The 2023 vintage is a powerful yet precise Blaufraenkisch that reflects the Duerrau vineyard with impressive clarity. The wine is vinified dry and develops its full potential at a serving temperature of 16 °C, with the recommendation to decant it for 2 hours.

The combination of site character, intensive mash fermentation and long-term maturation in wood results in a Blaufraenkisch with pronounced ageing potential and clear structure. The Duerrau vineyard is considered one of the finest red wine sites in Burgenland and characterizes this wine with mineral depth, dense aromas and a firm, yet elegant tannin structure.
