The Poli Grappa di Bolgheri Sassicaia 2019 is an elegant vintage grappa distilled from the high-quality pomace of the famous Tuscan wine Sassicaia – one of Italy's most renowned red wines with international cult status. The grape varieties used, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, come directly from the vineyards of the Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri. This exclusive combination of great winemaking tradition and artisanal distilling makes this bottling one of Italy's most prestigious grappas.
The grappa is produced at the Poli Distillery in Veneto, a family-run distillery with a long tradition dating back to 1898. Distillation takes place discontinuously in copper stills under vacuum – a particularly aroma-preserving process. After distillation, the grappa ages for several months in French oak barrels, giving it a complex structure and delicate wood aromas. Bottled at 40% ABV and presented in an elegant tin box, this grappa represents sophisticated enjoyment with a sense of origin and character.
