The Gerard Bertrand CORBIERES BOUTENAC Domaine de Villemajou Rouge 2023 15% is a full-bodied red wine from Corbieres-Boutenac in the Languedoc and is one of the most notable wines from the historic Domaine de Villemajou. The estate was acquired by Georges Bertrand in 1970 and is closely tied to the family’s history, as it was here that Georges and his son Gerard Bertrand shared their passion for wine for more than 15 years. A distinctive feature of the vineyard is its very old Carignan vines, which form an important foundation for the wine’s unique character. The cuvee blends Carignan, Grenache Noir, and Syrah. Corbieres-Boutenac holds a special position within the region as an INAO-recognized, hierarchically distinguished appellation of the Corbieres. The Domaine de Villemajou Rouge is also listed on Vivino among the top 2% of wines worldwide.

The grapes are harvested by hand and selected twice—first in the vineyard and then again in the cellar. Vinification is tailored individually to each grape variety: Carignan and Syrah are processed as whole clusters using carbonic maceration for 10 to 18 days, while Grenache Noir undergoes traditional maceration for 15 to 20 days after destemming. The wine is then aged for 12 months in barriques in the Gasparet cellar. This meticulous production process gives the Domaine de Villemajou Corbieres-Boutenac 2023 a complex, powerful structure and, at the same time, interesting aging potential. With 15% alcohol by volume in the 0.75-liter bottle, it is an expressive southern French red wine for lovers of concentrated, aged cuvees.
