Gerard Bertrand An 940 Chardonnay 2024 13,5% Vol. 0,75l
The Gerard Bertrand An 940 Chardonnay 2024 is a fine French white wine from the Languedoc, whose name pays homage to history. The first traces of the Langue d'Oc can be found as early as 940 AD in literary texts such as the poem "La passion de Clermont." Later, it developed into the Occitan language, a language of great cultural significance, which spread throughout Europe in the Middle Ages through the troubadour movement. This cultural richness is also reflected in the Languedoc winemaking tradition, which Gerard Bertrand continues today using modern and sustainable methods.
The grapes for this Chardonnay are harvested at night to preserve freshness. Gentle pressing in a pneumatic press is followed by cold static clarification. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, and part of the must is aged in barriques to gain additional complexity. Malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided to preserve the vibrancy and freshness. After a light fining, the wine is bottled. With an alcohol content of 13.5% vol., the An 940 Chardonnay combines freshness, elegance, and finesse and is a striking expression of the modern Languedoc.
