The Frescobaldi Tenuta Perano Chianti Classico DOCG 2023 14% is a full-bodied red wine from Tuscany, produced at Tenuta Perano in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The vineyards are located at an elevation of about 500 meters above sea level and benefit from their south-southwest exposure as well as their natural, amphitheater-shaped layout, which allows for optimal exposure to sunlight and heat. For the 2023 vintage, Frescobaldi relies on Sangiovese and complementary grape varieties. The grapes are harvested by hand and then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. During maceration, careful pumping over ensures controlled extraction of polyphenols, thereby imparting the characteristic structure of this Chianti Classico DOCG.

After vinification, the Tenuta Perano 2023 ages for a total of 12 months in barriques and stainless steel tanks, with the partial aging in wood adding additional complexity. This is followed by a further aging period in the bottle before the wine is released to the market. The 2023 vintage in the high-altitude vineyards was characterized by a cool, rainy winter, a mild spring, and a warm—though not excessively hot—summer. Good nighttime ventilation in the vineyards supported even ripening of the grapes.
