For the Gran Reserva, the rum is aged for seven years in American white oak barrels, which gives it its distinctive depth and full-bodied character. Flor de Cana relies on natural aging in its production process and, according to the company, uses no added sugar, artificial flavors, or additives. Distillation is also carried out using 100% renewable energy.
