Fernet-Branca 35% vol. 3 l is one of the best-known and most traditional Italian bitters and has been produced in the Fratelli Branca distillery in Milan since the 19th century. The recipe goes back to a tonic that was originally developed by a Swedish doctor called Fernet and later adopted and perfected by Berardino Branca. Fernet-Branca was already on sale in 1845 and developed into a genuine global brand over the following decades. Maria Scala, the widow of Stefano Branca, was particularly influential in establishing Amaro internationally from 1893; the Branca Group's research center for medicinal plants is still named after her today.

The production process uses 27 different herbs and spices, the exact composition of which remains a secret. However, components such as aloe, gentian, cinchona bark, galanga, myrrh, camomile, cinnamon, saffron and other botanical ingredients are known to give this bitter its characteristic depth. After maceration, Fernet-Branca matures for at least a year in Slavonian oak, which gives it its strong, aromatic and bitter structure. Its importance in Argentina, where around 75 percent of global production is consumed, is particularly noteworthy. The large 3-liter bottle is ideal for restaurants, events and lovers of the Italian amaro tradition.
