The Erwin Sabathi Sauvignon Blanc Ried Poessnitzberg Suedsteiermark DAC 2023 is one of the great single-vineyard wines of Suedsteiermark and exemplifies uncompromising origin, depth and longevity. It comes from the renowned single vineyard Ried Poessnitzberg, whose barren, highly calcareous Opok soil forms the basis for precision, mineral tension and exceptional structure. The multi-award-winning Erwin Sabathi winery is responsible for this wine, which stands for terroir-driven top wines with an international reputation.
The grapes come from steep vineyards, are harvested exclusively by hand and grown organically. Vinification with natural yeasts and 24 months of ageing in large wooden barrels give this Sauvignon Blanc Suedsteiermark DAC enormous depth, inner peace and precision, without masking the varietal character. With 13% alcohol by volume, the wine is taut, structured and impressively balanced. The planned bottling in September 2025 underlines the claim of this wine as a Grand Cru Sauvignon with a drinking maturity of ten years and well beyond.
