The Beronia Viura Barrel Fermented Rioja DOCa 2024 13% is an expressive Spanish white wine from the Rioja region, made from 100% Viura grapes. The white grapes come from old vines traditionally trained as bush vines with low yields, resulting in concentrated grapes with a distinct character. After a 12-hour static maceration on the skins, the must is racked off and then fermented directly in 225-liter wooden barrels. Bodegas Beronia uses 80% French oak and 20% American oak for this process. It is precisely this barrel fermentation that is a key characteristic of the wine, lending it additional structure and complexity without overshadowing the freshness typical of Viura.

The 2024 vintage is produced by Bodegas Beronia in Ollauri and bears the Protected Designation of Origin (D.O.Ca.) Rioja. With 13% alcohol by volume in the 0.75-liter bottle, this barrel-fermented white Rioja combines traditional Spanish winemaking with a modern, multi-layered style. Total acidity is 5 g/l, and the pH is 3.35; the winery indicates that the wine will be ready to drink through 2030. Additionally, this vintage has a very low residual sugar content of 1 g/l, making the Viura distinctly dry. The bottle is sealed with a natural cork. This makes the Beronia Viura 2024 particularly well-suited for lovers of structured, dry white wines with barrel aging and excellent potential as a food pairing.
