Some time ago they decided to convert an old homestead in Torabhaig into a distillery. After a painstaking 4-year restoration and construction period, Torabhaig has been a fully functioning distillery since January 2017.
Not all peat is the same, there is much more to peat than just measuring it by its phenolic content, peat needs to be well tempered at all times in order to live out its balance and strength perfectly.
Torabhaig relies on this heavy peat, which receives an excellent tempering on the Isle of Skye.
The single malt was named after a stream of the same name next to the distillery "Allt Gleann".
