The Wild Boys of Club Batonnage - BATONNAGE 2020 is an exceptional red wine with 15% vol. that impresses not only with its powerful style, but above all with its history. The Batonnage club was founded by five winemaker friends Markus Altenburger, Florian Gayer, Gerhard Kracher, Erich Scheiblhofer and Christian Tschida - icons of Austrian viticulture who joined forces after a blind tasting in 2000 to create visionary cuvees together. The name "Batonnage" refers to the traditional stirring of the lees during vinification, a technique that gives the wine additional richness, texture and complexity.
The BATONNAGE 2020 is a cuvee of Blaufraenkisch, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a clear focus on the Blaufraenkisch grape - it gives the wine its characteristic structure, freshness and spicy depth. Maturation takes place in wooden barrels, after which each bottle is sealed with natural cork to support the ageing process. With a strictly limited edition of only 570 bottles per vintage (0.75 l), this wine is an absolute rarity.
