The Macallan 15 Years Old Color Collection is a Highland single malt Scotch whiskey with an alcohol content of 43% in a 0.7-liter bottle and part of the special Macallan Color Collection. The series pays tribute to two central elements of The Macallan’s philosophy: the natural color of the whisky and the consistent use of sherry-seasoned oak casks. The 15-year-old single malt matures primarily in American oak casks previously filled with sherry from Jerez de la Frontera, supplemented by a smaller proportion of corresponding European oak casks. During its 15-year maturation, the rich color—reminiscent of beech wood—develops exclusively through the interaction between the distillate and the oak casks. As a result, the whiskey contains no added coloring agents, underscoring The Macallan’s characteristic focus on cask quality and natural color development.

The design of The Macallan Color Collection 15 Years Old also reflects the connection to Jerez de la Frontera. Renowned graphic designer David Carson created the distinctive wave pattern and a collage whose warm hues are inspired by the landscape and orchards surrounding Jerez, as well as by the natural color of the whiskey. The combination of 15 years of aging, American and European oak, and the casks’ prior use for sherry makes this bottling a unique addition to the Colour Collection and an intriguing choice for lovers of sherry-cask-matured Macallan single malts.
