The Slyrs whiskey liqueur comes from the Upper Bavarian distillery in Schliersee. The name "Slyrs" is a pseudo-Gaelic verbalization of "Schliersee". The distillery was founded in 1999 by Florian Stettner and is located directly on the shores of Schliersee.

For the Slyrs whisky liqueur, the base of a single malt is reduced from 43% to 30% alcohol with the help of spring water. The distillate is then refined with vanilla, caramel and honey.
