The Slyrs single malt whisky comes from the Upper Bavarian distillery at Schliersee. The name "Slyrs" is a pseudo-Gaelic corruption of "Schliersee". The distillery was founded in 1999 by Florian Stettner and is located directly on the shores of Schliersee. Managing director Anton Setter and master distiller Hans Kemenater brought 50 barrels up to 1501 meters above sea level - to the summit of the Stuempfling - with the help of a ski lift. The barrels are stored there for 5 years before they start their descent. Mountain air and strong temperature fluctuations of up to 60 degrees significantly influence the taste of the whiskey.
Slyrs Mountain Edition Jaegerkamp matures for 5 years in oak casks before this is bottled at a cask strength of 50.4%.
Distilled in the valley......matured on the mountain.
