In 1790, 25-year-old George Sandeman, son of a wealthy Scottish carpenter, asked his father for a loan of £300. His goal was to settle in London as a wine merchant. George Sandeman then founded the Sandeman company, which later became one of the world's leading suppliers of port and sherry.

From the very beginning, Sandeman specialized in the production and trade of port and sherry. Unlike today, he did not run his business from his own offices, but from Tom's Coffee House in Birchin Lane in London. At that time, deals were often concluded on the basis of a "gentleman's word." George Sandeman quickly gained an excellent reputation, which still shapes the Sandeman company today.

Sandeman 10 Years Old Tawny Porto is an elegant, intense red port wine made from a careful cuvée of grape varieties such as Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. The hand-picked grapes are destemmed and gently crushed before fermentation to ensure optimal extraction of the fruit components. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures, followed by the targeted addition of wine alcohol.

This port wine is traditionally aged in the centuries-old oak barrels of the Sandeman winery in Vila Nova de Gaia. The wines selected for the Sandeman 10 Years Old Tawny, which have matured between 9 and 12 years, are regularly tasted and analyzed to guarantee the highest quality. The result is a perfectly balanced tawny that impresses with its velvety texture and aromas.
