Salzl Seewinkelhof is a renowned winery in the Seewinkel region of Burgenland, Austria. The winery is known for producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir and climate of the Seewinkel region. The Seewinkel is characterized by its Pannonian climate, which is influenced by the nearby Lake Neusiedl. The lake acts as a heat reservoir, providing warm and sunny conditions during the growing season and thus offering favorable conditions for winegrowing. The family business is now in its third generation and has a deep connection to the land, and their passion for viticulture is evident in the wines they produce. The family cultivates vineyards that are carefully selected for their specific soil characteristics, microclimate and grape varieties. The estate is primarily known for the production of red wines, with a focus on local Austrian grape varieties such as Blaufraenkisch and Zweigelt. Great emphasis is placed on sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture - with methods such as organic fertilization, minimal use of pesticides and careful water management, the aim is to achieve a harmonious relationship between nature and viticulture.
After the harvest, the fully ripe grapes of the Salzl Syrah Reserve undergo traditional maceration in steel tanks at a temperature of 30°C. This is followed by a 14-day maceration period and malolactic fermentation. This reserve is aged for 12 months in small oak barrels made of 100% new wood. The red wine was bottled in July 2022.
