Salzl Seewinkelhof is a renowned winery in the Seewinkel region of Burgenland, Austria. The winery is known for producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir and climate of the Seewinkel region. The Seewinkel is characterized by its Pannonian climate, which is influenced by the nearby Lake Neusiedl. The lake acts as a heat reservoir, providing warm and sunny conditions during the growing season and thus offering favorable conditions for winegrowing. The family business is now in its third generation and has a deep connection to the land, and their passion for viticulture is evident in the wines they produce. The family cultivates vineyards that are carefully selected for their specific soil characteristics, microclimate and grape varieties. The estate is primarily known for the production of red wines, with a focus on local Austrian grape varieties such as Blaufraenkisch and Zweigelt. Great emphasis is placed on sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture - with methods such as organic fertilization, minimal use of pesticides and careful water management, the aim is to achieve a harmonious relationship between nature and viticulture.
The Salzl Sacris Zweigelt is a single-varietal wine made from 100% Zweigelt grapes. The vines grow on loamy sandy soils with a high proportion of gravel called paratschernose. The winemaking process involves traditional maceration in steel tanks at 30 °C with 18 days of maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation and 24 months of ageing in new oak barrels. This wine has a storage potential until 2031 and is sealed with natural cork.
