Salzl Seewinkelhof is a renowned winery in the Seewinkel region of Burgenland, Austria. The winery is known for producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir and climate of the Seewinkel region. The Seewinkel is characterized by its Pannonian climate, which is influenced by the nearby Lake Neusiedl. The lake acts as a heat reservoir, providing warm and sunny conditions during the growing season and thus offering favorable conditions for winegrowing. The family business is now in its third generation and has a deep connection to the land, and their passion for viticulture is evident in the wines they produce. The family cultivates vineyards that are carefully selected for their specific soil characteristics, microclimate and grape varieties. The estate is primarily known for the production of red wines, with a focus on local Austrian grape varieties such as Blaufraenkisch and Zweigelt. Great emphasis is placed on sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture - with methods such as organic fertilization, minimal use of pesticides and careful water management, the aim is to achieve a harmonious relationship between nature and viticulture.
The Salzl Cuvee Classic Red is a cuvee made from the Zweigelt, Merlot, Blaufraenkisch and Cabernet Franc grape varieties. The grapes come from vineyards with brown earth, loam and gravel soils. Vinification involves traditional maceration in steel tanks at 30°C with a 14-day maceration period, followed by malolactic fermentation. Maturation takes place partly in small oak barrels and in steel tanks. This wine has a storage potential until 2027 and is sealed with a screw cap.
