The Salzl Chardonnay Premium 2023 (14%) is a powerful yet precisely crafted Austrian Chardonnay, made entirely from Chardonnay grapes. The vines grow on Paratschernosem soil, a loamy sand with a high gravel content, providing excellent conditions for a structured, mineral-driven white wine. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled 15°C in small oak barrels. The wine then remains on its fine lees, which are regularly stirred. This technique, known as bâtonnage, enhances texture, body, and complexity. The 2023 vintage was bottled in August 2024.

The Salzl Chardonnay Premium 2023 is presented in a 0.75-liter bottle as a sophisticated, oak-aged white wine with significant aging potential. Aging in small oak barrels on the fine lees combines the typical Chardonnay fruit with structure and a multifaceted oak spice. Under optimal storage conditions, the recommended drinking window is between 2026 and 2036, making this premium Austrian Chardonnay suitable for long-term cellaring. A generous Burgundy glass is recommended for enjoyment, allowing the wine's complex character to unfold particularly well.
