The exclusive TONKA TONKA rum is created in a unique collaboration with the well-known spice miller Ingo Holland from the "Altes Gewuerzamt". The use of hand-picked tonka beans creates a rum-based spirit that is characterized by its special aroma.
The term "tonka" comes from the language of the Caribs, the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean, and has a deep cultural meaning. In fact, the tonka bean was in circulation as official currency in Venezuela until the 1940s.
Tonka beans grow on majestic trees that grow up to 30 meters tall and have trunks of impressive girth. These trees are native to the tropical regions of northern Brazil, Trinidad and parts of Africa, where the tonka bean is also valued as a traditional remedy.
