Ruavieja Licor de Hierbas is a traditional Spanish herbal liqueur from Galicia, whose character is based on selected natural herbs and aguardiente de orujo made from grape pomace. To produce it, the herbs are carefully selected and then macerated in the aguardiente, allowing their aromatic compounds to infuse into the spirit. Ruavieja’s history dates back to 1889, when the Rodriguez Ovalle family of winemakers in Santiago de Compostela began producing high-quality liqueurs and spirits from select Galician grape pomace. The Licor de Hierbas itself was introduced in 1969 and is now one of the brand’s classic specialties.

With an alcohol content of 30% in the 0.7-liter bottle, Ruavieja herbal liqueur combines a pleasantly sweet base with fresh and balsamic herbal notes. According to the manufacturer, mint, menthol, and chamomile are the characteristic aromatic components. In addition to water, alcohol, and sugar, the ingredients include Aguardiente de Orujo, aromatic plants, and natural mint flavoring. The intense yellow color with greenish highlights visually underscores its herbal character.
