The Polz Urbani Steiermark 2018 is an elegant, finely structured red wine cuvee from southern Styria that impressively reflects the high quality awareness and winemaking skills of the renowned Polz winery. This cuvee of 50% Zweigelt, 25% Blaufraenkisch and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon comes exclusively from the best Styrian vineyards, whose vines are between 12 and 25 years old. These deeply rooted vines can develop the complexity on the poor, mineral-rich soils of shell limestone and loam that gives this wine its unmistakable character.
Vinification is carried out with the utmost care: after a classic mash fermentation, the wine matures for 30 months in used barrique barrels, which gives it depth, structure and balance without the wood masking the fruit. With an alcohol content of 12.5% vol., the Polz Urbani is elegant, fresh and expressive at the same time - a red wine that does not focus on power, but on finesse and drinking pleasure. The recommended drinking temperature is 14-16 °C, and it will reach its optimum drinking maturity by around 2026.
