The foundation consists of rare distillates from 1969, rediscovered in 2015, that had been aged for many years in old whiskey barrels. These particularly old reserves were then blended with carefully selected vintages from 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. The base is molasses, from which Grays produces a characterful, dry style of rum. The New Grove Emotion 1969 thus embodies not a single 1969 vintage, but a meticulously composed vintage blend from Mauritius, whose oldest components date back to 1969.

With a robust 47% ABV, the New Grove EMOTION 1969 particularly clearly preserves its intense fruitiness, spicy depth, and the influence of its long barrel aging.
