To make Monkey 47 Black Forest Sloe Gin, the distillers at Monkey 47 Distillery first use their signature Black Forest Dry Gin as a base. Then they take hand-picked wild sloe berries that grow in the Black Forest and macerate them in the gin for several months. During this time, the sloe berries release their flavors into the gin, creating a deep and delicious liqueur.

Monkey 47 is presented in a distinctive and elegant bottle, whose label is decorated with a monkey motif. The number 47 not only refers to the number of botanicals, but also pays homage to a story from the 1940s, when an Englishman named Montgomery Collins developed the original recipe for the gin.
