In 1743, Moet & Chandon was founded by Claude Moet in France.

Jean-Remy Moet bought the former Hautvillers monastery in 1794, where the monk Dom Perignon had refined the production techniques for champagne, and Moet was soon exported to countless countries.

Because Napoleon Bonaparte was a good friend of Jean-Remy Moet, the latter always carried a supply of Moet's champagne with him on his later campaigns.

Since its founding, the company has been based in Epernay, France, and is the market leader for champagne.

In 1987, Moet Hennessy merged with Louis Vuitton to form the luxury goods group LVMH.

The Moet & Chandon Reserve Imperiale Brut was not available in Europe until recently and thus not very well known. Due to its rarity, this champagne is considered one of the most exclusive. Due to the high proportion of reserve wines, this champagne has a high complexity and maturity.

To put it in the words of The Marquise de Pompadour, " Champagne is the only wine in the world that makes every woman beautiful."
