The Markowitsch winery in Goettelsbrunn, Austria, is one of the country's top wine estates. Founded several decades ago, it has developed from a small family business into a leading winery. Located in the Carnuntum region, it benefits from an ideal climate with hot summers and cold winters. The diverse soils offer the best conditions for growing grape varieties such as Zweigelt, Blaufraenkisch, St. Laurent, Gruener Veltliner and Chardonnay.

Sustainability is a central concern of the winery. It relies on environmentally friendly methods, does not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides and uses renewable energy. Harvesting is done by hand to guarantee the quality of the grapes. Vinification combines traditional and modern techniques, with the wines maturing in steel tanks and wooden barrels.

Goettlesbrunn, a picturesque village in the heart of the Carnuntum region, is characterized by calcareous Danube gravel, which gives the wines a special minerality. A cool breeze from the nearby Maria Elender Forest gives the wines a juicy spiciness. For years, Gerhard Markowitsch produced the "Redmont", which had all the characteristics of a local wine without being called one. With the 2021 vintage, this wine is now called "Goettlesbrunn".

Markowitsch Goettelsbrunn Rot Carnuntum is made from 60% Zweigelt and 40% Blaufraenkisch grapes, which are harvested in mid to late September using multiple manual selections. Fermentation takes place spontaneously on the skins for 14 to 21 days at 30-32 °C and is supplemented by malolactic fermentation. The wine then matures for 16 months in barriques and 500-liter barrels made from French and Austrian oak.
