The upheavals at the beginning of the 20th century and in particular the First World War, which destroyed half of the Domaine Louis Roederer, led Leon Olry Roederer to rebuild his vineyard.
He decided to buy grapes to ensure the continuity of the house in these times of crisis. At the same time, he created a wine from several vintages with a constant taste, regardless of the year of harvest.
Collection 243 is 56% from the 2017 vintage (42% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir and 22% Meunier) plus 10% reserve wines and 34% Reserve Perpetuelle.
It brings together the wines aged in oak barrels of the three grape varieties of Champagne, from different crus selected by Louis Roederer.
The aging takes place for three to four years in their own cellars.
