The name "Lagavulin" is Gaelic and means "the hollow where the mill stands".

The Lagavulin distillery nestles in a small bay on the southeast coast of Islay and produces complex whiskies in pear-shaped "stills", the copper stills.

Pedro-Ximenez wine is the heavy, sweet product of sun-dried, golden grapes left on the vines until early/mid-September so they can still develop additional sugar content and flavor.

This particular Lagavulin received a second maturation in aged Pedro Ximenez and flamed American oak casks.
