The Hunter Laing Kill Devil Trinidad Caroni 20 Years Old 1998 is an exceptionally rare single-cask rum from Trinidad, originating from the legendary—and now-closed—Caroni Distillery. This rum was distilled in 1998 from molasses and then aged for a total of 20 years. Founded in 1918, the Caroni Distillery became a cult favorite among rum enthusiasts, particularly for its bold, characterful spirits. Following the distillery’s closure in 2003, the remaining aged stocks have become increasingly rare. For the Kill Devil series, this single cask was selected by the independent Scottish bottler Hunter Laing and bottled in 2018 at 46% ABV.

Of particular note is the extremely limited production run of the Caroni 1998 Kill Devil 20 Years Old: only 246 bottles were bottled from the selected single cask. The bottling contains no added sugar or flavorings, allowing the original character of the long-aged Caroni distillate to take center stage. The Kill Devil series was launched by Edition Spirits, a division of Hunter Laing, to independently bottle select single-cask rums from various origins. With 20 years of aging, a 1998 vintage, single-cask character, and only 246 bottles, this bottling has achieved the status of a true rarity and collector’s item.
