The Hennessy distillery, based in Cognac, France, was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy. Today, the company is run by the eighth generation of the Hennessy family. Richard Hennessy, an officer who immigrated from Ireland, founded "Jas Hennessy & Co", which laid the foundations for the company's development into an internationally recognized cognac producer.
Hennessy only uses grapes grown in the Cognac region for the production of Cognac. After double distillation in copper stills, the eaux-de-vie is produced, which forms the basis for all of the company's Cognac variations.
The Hennessy V.S.O.P, a blend of more than 60 different eaux-de-vie, is known for its balance and harmony. The designation V.S.O.P (Very Superior Old Pale) indicates the great age and high quality of the cognac.
