The whisky spends its entire maturation period—more than two decades—exclusively in carefully selected 100% first-fill sherry casks. The intense influence of these sherry casks—used for Scotch for the first time—shapes the depth and characteristic sherry style of the bottling. Glengoyne also refrains from adding colorants, so the rich color is derived solely from the long cask aging process.
