The Glen Moray Distillery, which has been based in Elgin since the 19th century, produces single malt Scotch whisky in Scotland's most famous whisky region, Speyside. A special variant in their range is the Glen Moray Elgin Classic Peated, a smoky version of the classic Speyside whisky. This whisky combines smoky intensity with the typical smoothness of Speyside whiskies, making it an interesting introduction to the peated whisky category.
In the production process, the barley is first unusually dried in a peat-fired kiln, which gives it a slight smoky flavor. This peated barley is then distilled together with traditionally malted barley, resulting in a spirit with distinct campfire notes.
