The name "Mac Na Mara", which means "son of the sea" in Gaelic, refers to the rich maritime tradition of the Scottish Hebrides, which have been closely linked to the Celtic maritime kingdom for centuries. From the Middle Ages until the 16th century, this kingdom ruled the important sea routes that stretched from the Isle of Man to the Isle of Lewis. This Macnamara Madeira Cask Whisky is first matured traditionally in bourbon casks.
