Frauwallner Sauvignon Blanc Straden Vulkanland Steiermark DAC 2025 12,5% Vol. 0,75l
The Frauwallner Sauvignon Blanc Straden Vulkanland Steiermark DAC 2025 (12.5% ABV) is a dry Sauvignon Blanc village wine from Straden, highlighting the volcanic origins of the Vulkanland Steiermark DAC region in southeastern Styria. The grapes come from slopes around Straden at altitudes of approximately 300 to 450 meters above sea level, facing southeast to southwest. The vineyards are characterized by volcanic rock, basalt, and limestone gravel. The grapes are hand-harvested and manually selected; after a maceration period of about two to three days, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks. It is bottled with a screw cap.
In this 0.75-liter bottle, the Frauwallner winery from Straden presents a precise and terroir-driven Sauvignon Blanc with pronounced minerality. The 2025 vintage has a residual sugar content of 1.2 g/l and an acidity of 5.8 g/l, making it clearly dry. The optimal drinking window is indicated as 2026 to 2028. The vintage also impressed in terms of quality: Falstaff rated the Frauwallner Sauvignon Blanc Straden 2025 with 92–94 points. This Styrian Sauvignon Blanc thus combines volcanic terroir, careful hand-harvesting, and straightforward winemaking to create a characteristic village wine from Straden.
