The Franz Hirtzberger Gruener Veltliner Honivogl Smaragd 2023 is one of Austria's most important and renowned white wines. It comes from the iconic single vineyard Honivogl in Spitz an der Donau – one of the Franz Hirtzberger winery's prime locations. The steep terraces on weathered primary rock and loess soils offer a unique combination of warmth, structure, and minerality, giving the wine its unmistakable depth and complexity.
Representing the highest Wachau quality level, Smaragd, this Gruener Veltliner is powerful, complex, and extremely age-worthy. Aging takes place traditionally in stainless steel tanks and partly in large wooden barrels to promote structure and longevity. The harvest is selectively carried out by hand with the utmost precision – the result is an exceptional wine with regional character and international stature. With an alcohol content of 14% ABV, this vintage is particularly balanced and refined without sacrificing depth.
