Flor de Cana has been owned by the founding family since 1890 and has made a name for itself for the sustainable production of rum. The origins of the brand can be traced back to 1875, when Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa, a young man from Genoa, Italy, decided to travel to Nicaragua and establish a distillery at the foot of the San Cristobal volcano. This location was chosen for its fertile soil, volcanically enriched water and warm climate, factors that contribute significantly to the characteristic taste of the rum.
The maturation of the rum for at least 12 years in oak barrels gives it an amber hue, an exceptional smoothness and a fine aroma, while the rum remains sugar-free, gluten-free and kosher.
