The Eichenwald DIE ILLUSION Blanc de Noirs 2025, 12% ABV, in a 0.75-liter bottle, is an exceptional Blanc de Noirs from Austria that impressively demonstrates just how versatile the Blaufraenkisch grape variety can be. Produced by the renowned Eichenwald winery in Horitschon, Burgenland, this special wine is made from 100% Blaufraenkisch grapes, yet is presented as a white wine. The name “Blanc de Noirs,” which translates to “white from blacks,” perfectly describes this fascinating production process.

For production, the dark Blaufraenkisch grapes are harvested as cool as possible and pressed very gently immediately after harvest. This prevents the pigments from the grape skins from entering the must, resulting in a light-colored wine even though only red grapes are used. This method is best known from the Champagne region and is also gaining increasing popularity in other wine regions. Aging takes place entirely in stainless steel tanks, which optimally preserves the wine’s freshness and fruit aromas.

With an alcohol content of 12% vol., the Eichenwald DIE ILLUSION Blanc de Noirs 2025 is a modern, fruit-forward, and complex white wine made from Blaufraenkisch. The combination of structure, freshness, and aromatic depth makes this wine an exciting alternative for anyone who appreciates characterful white wines with a distinct sense of terroir.
