Domaene Wachau, based in Austria's most renowned wine-growing region, the Wachau, is one of the country's leading white wine producers. Steep terraced vineyards, a cool marginal climate and barren primary rock soils characterize the wines of the Wachau. "Smaragd" refers to particularly complex, powerful and long-lasting wines from the Wachau.

The 2023 vintage began with a mild and dry winter, followed by a cool spring that provided the soils with a good supply of moisture. This moisture benefited the vines during the hot summer days and promoted their growth. Although there were several hailstorms, these did not diminish the quality of the grapes, which developed well. The high September temperatures encouraged ripening, which was balanced out by cool October nights. The result is balanced and harmonious wines with a full-bodied texture and multi-layered, juicy aromas.

Domaene Wachau Riesling Smaragd Terrassen is made from 100% fully ripe Riesling grapes, which are carefully selected. After precise selection of the grapes and pressing in pneumatic tank presses, controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. After maturing, the wine is bottled and sealed with a screw cap.
