The history of Casillero del Diablo is closely linked to the winery Concha y Toro and its founder Don Melchora. More than a hundred years ago, Don Melchora hid a valuable wine collection in his personal cellar. But over time, he noticed that bottles were disappearing from this cellar. It seemed that his secret cellar was not so secret anymore, as the townspeople had heard about the wines and could not resist tasting them.

To protect his treasure, Don Melchora spread the rumor of strange happenings in his cellar, including noises, echoes, shadows and mysterious figures. He claimed that the devil was dwelling in his cellar.

This is how the legend got its name, and Casillero del Diablo became one of the most famous Chilean wine brands in the world.
