The Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve 12% is the signature cuvee of the historic Champagne house Charles Heidsieck and blends an exceptionally wide selection of approximately 60 Crus from the Champagne region. The blend consists of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, and 20% Meunier. Three specific origins particularly shape its characteristic style: Oger, a Grand Cru from the Cote des Blancs, contributes a generous Chardonnay character; Ambonnay, a Grand Cru from the Montagne de Reims, provides power and structure with its Pinot Noir; while Verneuil from the Vallee de la Marne ensures balance and a smooth texture with its Meunier. During vinification, the individual crus and grape varieties are processed separately in stainless steel tanks. In addition, 5–10% of the wines are vinified in used Burgundian oak barrels. The 50% reserve wines play a significant role in the house’s characteristic style, contributing additional maturity, smoothness, and aromatic complexity. A slow and lengthy aging process in the historic chalk cellars further contributes to the refined development of this Champagne.
