The company founder Don Andres Brugal Montaner left his home country of Spain to seek wealth in the Caribbean. After learning the craft of rum production in Cuba, he moved to the Dominican Republic, more precisely to Puerto Plata, around 1855. The rums of the Brugal company still mature in this city today. After a few years there, he developed his own production process, which ensures the consistent quality of the rums. This process is still a well-kept secret that is now passed down from generation to generation.

Wonderfully buttery aromas and slight hints of caramel come to the fore. Light woody aromas with gentle hints of chocolate rise to the nose.
